The Hometown Letter

One Hennepin County town each month, from Trent Seaman

A note from Trent
Trent Seaman

I've lived in St. Louis Park for 25 years, so it felt right to start this new monthly letter at home. Each issue I'll pick one Hennepin County town, show you what it's like to live there, point you to a great place to eat, and share what's happening that month.

My market report still lands on the 15th with the numbers. This one is about the places. Amy and I raised our three kids here, and after all these years it still feels like a small town that happens to sit right next to the city. As we head into the holidays, I'm grateful for this community and for you. Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.

Town of the Month

St. Louis Park

A first-ring suburb right on the Minneapolis line, with walkable pockets like the West End and Excelsior & Grand, a deep park system, and a mix of 1940s and '50s homes that make it a favorite for first-time buyers and young families.

Where to eat

Rosalia Pizza, Texa-Tonka

After 25 years in St. Louis Park, I'm always excited when a spot like this opens close to home. Rosalia brings the wood-fired, Neapolitan-style pizza and Mediterranean dishes that Chef Daniel del Prado's restaurants are known for to the Texa-Tonka shopping center.

We started with the burrata dip, then shared the Mortadella Panuzzo pizza. The crust was light and blistered with a great chew, and the pistachio pesto stood out. Service was excellent, and it was a perfect quick dinner for my wife and me.

If you live in St. Louis Park or you're new to the area, put Rosalia on your list. We'll be back to try the pasta.

What we orderedThe burrata dip to start, then the Mortadella Panuzzo pizza with pistachio pesto.

First-time buyer corner

Is winter a bad time to buy?

Often the opposite. Fewer buyers are out, sellers who list in winter usually need to move, and you see how a house handles the cold. My book Buying Your First Home walks through the whole process, and my free buyer's guide is just below.
